Description

I am using a configuration fragment like

stream {

map $ssl_preread_server_name $mailorweb {

mailarchive.domain.tld mail;
autoconfig.* mail;
autoconfig.domain.tld mail;
default web;

}

...
}

with different upstream definitions for mail and web. It turns out that autoconfig.* does not work, I had to use the autoconfig.domain.tld line. As I am running about a dozen domains, this is pretty tedious.

I am considering this a bug, as http://nginx.org/en/docs/http/ngx_http_map_module.html shows wildcards, and http://nginx.org/en/docs/stream/ngx_stream_ssl_preread_module.html does not document any restriction.

Interestingly, ~(autoconfig\..*)$ works.

Regards, Joachim

For wildcards to work, you have to use special parameter hostnames in the map, both in stream and http. See docs for details.
