Description
According to https://github.com/nginx/nginx/blob/554916301c424f02b1cabc073845b64f8681099b/src/http/ngx_http_upstream.c#L454-L459 it is currently not possible to add PUT to proxy_cache_methods.
What is the reasoning behind this?
It would be great if I could cache PUT requests as well.

This because HTTP specification explicitly defines that responses to PUT requests are not cacheable, RFC 7231:
Further, no use cases are known where caching responses to PUT requests might be beneficial.
