Description

Example:

server {
    listen       80;
    listen       [::]:80;
    server_name  mysite.com;
    root         /srv/http;
    index        index.html;

    gzip_static  on;
}

While this usually works it turns out that when looking for index files in a directory the gzipped versions are not considered.

http://mysite.com/directory/ => /directory/index.html
http://mysite.com/directory/index.html => /directory/index.html.gz
